Day 3

Where do you begin with such a big book? I wouldn’t suggest you start on the first page and read it to the back as you would a novel because things might be a little hard to understand at first.

Start by reading one of the gospels in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) which tell the story of Jesus’ life. The book of John (I think) is the best one to start with because it quotes Jesus many times as He teaches and explains God’s Word to His people. Next, look at some of the Apostle Paul’s letters (Romans – Philemon) which share a lot of information about daily life and the decisions you need to make. Acts is a great book that follows the life of the disciples and the incredible things God did through their lives.

Read as much as you can, but only read as much as you can understand. As you read, you’ll begin picking up hints of what God’s nature is like, plus new understandings of the Bible’s overall message. Little by little you’ll start developing a mind that thinks like God thinks, because you know what God has said in His word – the Bible.

I want to encourage you to start a daily reading plan that sends you on a journey to discover all the Bible’s truths.

*All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. II Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)*

**Challenge: Start today with the book of John, and start following the life of Jesus Christ.**
